Vlogger Rosie Gabrielle says city tourists ‘spreading vulgarity, destroying Hunza’s culture’
While it’s good to ascertain the restoration of tourism within the country, the local tourists are known for littering without care once they visit northern areas of Pakistan. it’s been highlighted time and again by various prominent individuals not only from Pakistan but foreigners, that we are polluting these beautiful places for a couple of days of fun.
The same issue once more has been highlighted by the Canadian traveller and vlogger, Rosie Gabrielle. She is highlighting the difficulty of the requests of locals who sleep in Hunza.
Rosie who is currently in Hunza, and exploring the sweetness of this country on a motorcycle, made a quick post on her Instagram account titled “Keep the North Pure”. The post contains her thoughts on things, and a message otherwise you can say an invitation from the locals and pictures of what’s happening in Hunza.
The pictures describe the pollution caused by festival goers, an image collage from the event and screenshots of her conversation with concerned locals.
Gabrielle wrote, “Since COVID-19 happened & travelling outside the country has decreased, there’s been an influx of individuals flocking north. But rather than bringing just their smiles & leaving only good memories, they’re bringing bad behaviours, drugs, vulgarity, rave parties & leaving tons of TRASH!,”.
Meanwhile, the pictures she shared of her talk with the locals reveal that the citizens of Hunza complain about how tourists are spreading “vulgarity” and “drug culture”.The locals believe that these disturbing actions are being veiled behind the screen of arts and entertainment, arguing that there are better ways of appreciating such things.
Locals believe that their values are being threatened.
Rosie went on to mention, “I understand that folks got to express themselves, release pent up energies & get out of their suffocating lives. But coming to a sacred land, feeling privileged & entitled to destroy it, bringing your toxic habits to innocent communities isn’t okay!”
