10 iconic Pakistani Women

In a shot to recognize women’s achievements in the social, economic, artistic, and political spheres, the theme for International Women’s Day is prompting people to believe that “ an equal world is an enabled world. ”

Since its commencement on March 8, 1911, the encyclopedically- celebrated event has sought to highlight several causes, with this year’s event fastening on promoting gender equivalency and inclusiveness at the plant.

Then, Arab News Asia Bureau, which proudly employs a 48 percent female workforce, has collected a list of 10 Pakistani women who have played a vital part in shaping the narrative for women’s achievements and equality in the country

1: Benazir Bhutto

Benazir Bhutto

The iconic BB generally appertained to as was the first female twice to be tagged prime minister of Pakistan and was tragically assassinated in 2007. She was the first woman to head a democratic government in a Muslim-maturity nation.

2: Bilquis Edhi

Bilquis Edhi

The widow of Abdul Sattar Edhi is a professional nurse and one of the most active philanthropists in Pakistan. She heads the Edhi Foundation which provides numerous humanitarian and healthcare services.

3: Samina Baig

Samina Baig

A high-altitude mountaineer who’s the first Pakistani woman to scale Mount Everest and also all Seven Summits. She’s also the youngest Muslim woman to climb Everest, having done so at the age of 21.

4: Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy Known for her work in films that highlight the inequality with women, she’s the first female Pakistani philanthropist of two Academy Awards, six Emmy Awards, and a Knight International Journalism Award. Pakistan recognized her with the alternate highest civilian award.

5: Namirah Salim

Namirah Salim

A true adventure woman. She’s the first Pakistani to have reached the North Pole and the South Pole and is the first Asian to skydive over Mount Everest. She’s the only Pakistani member of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic commercial space liner, short-listed to travel into space.

6: Malala Yousafzai

Malala Yousafzai

The youngest Pakistani to win a Nobel Peace Prize and an activist for girls’ education in one of the most conservative businesses in Pakistan who survived a terrorist attack aimed at silencing her campaign for girls’ education and rights.

7: Abida Parveen

Abida Parveen

Dubbed the Queen of Sufi music, her renditions and singing have made Pakistani folk music notorious encyclopedically honored, and promoted the country’s culture.

8: Muniba Mazari

Muniba Mazari

The multi-talented wheelchair-bound artist- activist- the writer was named Pakistan’s first female Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the accreditation of Women

9: Rafia Qaseem Baig

Rafia Qaseem Baig

She made history by getting the first female member of the Bomb Disposal Unit. She’s also the first female to have assumed this part in Asia.

10: Sana Mir

Sana Mir

A cricketer and the former captain of the Pakistan public women’s cricket team. She came to the first Pakistani women cricketer to rank number 1 in the ICC ODI bowler ranking and the first to take 100 wickets in WODIs. She’s also the first woman for Pakistan to play in 100 Women’s Twenty20 International matches and has led the country to win two gold medals in Asian Games.

نمبر4: شرمین عبید چنائے
خواتین کے ساتھ عدم مساوات کو اجاگر کرنے والی فلموں میں اپنے کام کے لیے مشہور، وہ دو اکیڈمی ایوارڈز، چھ ایمی ایوارڈز اور ایک نائٹ انٹرنیشنل جرنلزم ایوارڈ حاصل کرنے والی پہلی پاکستانی خاتون ہیں۔ پاکستان نے انہیں دوسرے اعلیٰ ترین سول ایوارڈ سے نوازا۔

نمبر9: رافعہ کیو بیگ
انہوں نے بم ڈسپوزل یونٹ کی پہلی خاتون رکن بن کر تاریخ رقم کی۔ وہ پہلی خاتون بھی ہیں جنہوں نے ایشیا میں یہ کردار سنبھالا ہے۔

نمبر10: ثنا میر
ایک کرکٹر اور پاکستان کی قومی خواتین کرکٹ ٹیم کی سابق کپتان۔ وہ آئی سی سی او ڈی آئی باؤلر رینکنگ میں نمبر 1 اورڈبلیو او ڈی آئی ز میں 100 وکٹیں لینے والی پہلی پاکستانی خاتون کرکٹر بن گئیں۔ وہ پاکستان کے لیے 100 خواتین کے ٹوئنٹی 20 بین الاقوامی میچوں میں کھیلنے والی پہلی خاتون بھی ہیں اور انہوں نے ایشین گیمز میں دو گولڈ میڈل جیتنے میں ملک کی قیادت کی ہے۔
